Divorce Document Preparation

Complete California divorce paperwork prepared accurately at your direction. Petition, Response, financial disclosures, Marital Settlement Agreement, and final Judgment — all without the attorney price tag.

What We Prepare

Petition for Dissolution of Marriage (FL-100)

The initial filing that starts the divorce process. Includes all identifying information, grounds for dissolution, and the specific orders you are requesting from the court.

Response to Petition (FL-120)

The respondent's formal reply to the Petition. Filed when the responding spouse wishes to participate in the case and have a say in the outcome.

Financial Disclosures

Income & Expense Declaration (FL-150) and Schedule of Assets & Debts (FL-142). Both parties are required to exchange complete financial information in every divorce case.

Marital Settlement Agreement

The comprehensive written agreement resolving all issues — property division, support, and custody. This becomes the basis for the Judgment when both parties agree.

Judgment of Dissolution (FL-180) & Notice of Entry (FL-190)

The final documents that legally end the marriage. The Judgment incorporates all terms of the settlement and becomes a binding court order.

Child Custody, Visitation & Support Forms

Complete FL-300 series forms for custody, visitation schedules, and child support orders — often part of a divorce with minor children.

Property Division Documentation

Community and separate property schedules, real property transfer documents, and retirement division (QDRO preparation) to implement the property settlement.

How It Works

1

Free Consultation

We discuss your situation and identify the documents you need. We help you understand the paperwork process — we do not provide legal advice or advise on strategy.

2

Document Preparation

You provide your information and instructions. We prepare all required forms accurately and completely — whether uncontested or contested. Every document is prepared at your specific direction.

3

Review & Filing

We review the documents with you and provide instructions for filing with the court. You remain in control of your case throughout the entire process.

Important: We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, represent you in court, or advise you on legal strategy. We prepare documents at your specific direction. If you need legal advice, we can refer you to licensed attorneys.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does divorce document preparation cost?+

Our fees are a fraction of what an attorney would charge — typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the complexity of your case, number of issues, and documents needed. We provide a clear quote during your free consultation. Court filing fees are separate.

Can you help with an uncontested divorce?+

Yes — uncontested divorces are our most common service. When both parties agree on all issues, we prepare the complete set of documents needed to finalize your dissolution efficiently. We prepare the Petition, Marital Settlement Agreement, and all supporting forms at your direction.

What if my spouse won't sign?+

If your spouse does not respond within 30 days of being served, you may be able to proceed with a default judgment. We can prepare the documents you need for a default divorce proceeding. If your case becomes contested, we can still prepare your documents at your direction.

How long does a California divorce take?+

California has a mandatory six-month waiting period from the date the Petition is served and the Response is filed. The fastest a divorce can be finalized is six months plus one day. The actual timeline depends on whether the divorce is contested and how quickly all required documents are completed.

What's the difference between divorce and legal separation?+

A divorce (dissolution) legally ends the marriage. A legal separation addresses the same issues — property division, support, and custody — but the parties remain legally married. We prepare documents for both.
